First Chats with Parents - Ting Kuang & Atiah

I began the process of getting to know parents, their lil’ ones and songs they sing earlier this week.

First, it was Ting Kuang and his two lovely daughters, 2-year-old Skyla and 6-month-old Terra; as then Atiah with her 8-month-old Raden.

It was really important to me that Ting Kuang accepted the invitation to chat as father figures tend to be under-represented when it comes to their parenting roles, yet fathers are instrumental to the development of our lil’ ones as well, as the following article from mother.ly suggests: [The scientific benefits of a father’s presence in their kid’s lives - Motherly](https://www.mother.ly/child/benefit-fathers-kids)

Conversations with both Ting Kuang and Atiah also revealed the role of their own parents in songs that are sung to their babies. The inter-generational nature of our relationships with our lil’ ones are indeed precious too.

As I revisit my conversations with Ting Kuang and Atiah through the following weeks, I hope to put together more details about their stories and songs they sing to their bubbas, while exploring the songs that they are trying to put together for me as well. These tend to be traditional tunes, passed down from generations, and are not easily found on media platforms. I look forward to hearing them and sharing them!

Stay connected with me to find out more about parents and their lil’ ones’ songs.
